Recipe for a good day:


  • Start out early. You will need coffee before you go.                                                                                  
  • Go with a real friend. Someone you can sit with in silence without feeling awkward.                         
  • Make your way toward the water. Sea, ocean, lake, whatever it is; just walk in that direction. It might take a while to reach the water. Eventually take a bus or streetcar.                                             
  • Find a long dock or boardwalk. Sit on the the steps at the end that lead down to the sea, and dangle your feet in the water. Hopefully some fish will come by. Or a cormorant.                           
  • When the sun is high in the sky, get up and find a cafe or a booth that sells street food. Maybe you don't feel hungry now, but you will when you get the food, trust me. Get anything you want, even if it's greasy or fried or unhealthy. I recommend a cheese hotdog, with the gooey yellow cheese melting into the bun.                                                                                                          
  • Make your way slowly back. If you get lost, ask someone, they'll help.                                                 
  • Walk along a back road toward your house. You'll pass wild apple trees as you go. Pick the green apples and eat them on the way.                                                                                                     
  • Come home and have a lazy sleep for the rest of the day.
